CBI President
Susan Charles is a licensed Cosmetologist in Iowa. She has been doing platform continuing education since 1981. Her main focus of educating to other licensees on Iowa law, administrative rules and infection control for the Cosmetology and Barber boards began in 2012, and is what she continues to do today.

Upon graduating from Pitze’s Waterloo School of Beauty in 1972, Sue furthered her professional career by joining, in 1980, the Cosmetologists and Barbers of Iowa Inc. (CBI).  A try-out and successfully testing in 1981 for the Iowa Cosmetology Educators (ICE) was the next step on her path to becoming a platform educator.

Sue has held various positions within these two organizations. She is currently serving as the President of CBI. Prior to this she was successfully nominated for and held the positions of Vice Chair, Education Director, Nail Section Director and Competition Chair of ICE. In 2013, Sue won the ICE award for Outstanding Educator of the Year and is once again nominated for this award, which will be announced at CBI’s annual member banquet in February of 2019.

Sue resides in Waterloo, Iowa and continues to work full time ‘behind the chair’ as a cosmetologist.
